'San Andreas' Director Brad Peyton to Helm Military Adventure Film for Sony (Exclusive)

Brad Peyton, who directed the hit earthquake action film San Andreas, his signed on to helm a high-concept action-adventure film about a military team for Sony.

Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the script for the project. The plot for the film, which is currently untitled, is being kept classified for now.

Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce through their Original Film banner while Peyton and his producing partner Jeff Fierson will executive produce.

Peyton's San Andreas, starring Dwayne Johnson, became a big summer hit for Warner Bros. after opening in May. The actioner has earned more than $461 million worldwide to date, and is Warner Bros.' highest grossing 2015 film of the year to date.

Off of San Andreas' success, Peyton is quickly becoming a go-to director for big action-adventure films. He recently signed on to direct and produce (alongside Johnson) a live-action adaptation of popular '80s video game Rampage, with Johnson also set to star. He's repped by CAA and Peikoff Mahan.

Marcum and Holloway, who wrote the screenplay for 2008's Iron Man, also penned Summit Entertainment’s reboot of Highlander, and are working on the new franchise chapter Transformers 5 for Paramount. The duo is repped by CAA.
