'Hanna's' Saoirse Ronan to Star in 'How I Live Now'
"Last King of Scotland" director Kevin Macdonald will helm project, which is adapted from Meg Rosoff's young adult book.
Saorise Ronan is in talks to star in How I Live Now, an adaptation of the Meg Rosoff young adult book.
Kevin Macdonald, who directed State of Play and The Last King of Scotland, is set to helm Live Now, which is being produced by Film4, Cowboy Films and Passion Pictures.
Rosoff’s book, set in the near future, tells of a self-centered Manhattan girl named Daisy (Ronan) who is sent to live with her aunt and cousins on a remote farm in England. When the aunt gets stuck in Norway and England invaded by an unnamed force, Daisy and her cousins are left to live in an almost utopian setting, unencumbered by adults.
That changes when soldiers come to the farm, splitting up the teens, and Daisy must deal with the travails and horrors of occupation while keeping one of her cousins alive as she tries to reunite them all.

The book was published in 2006 to great acclaim and won the Guardian children’s fiction prize.
Ronan has made playing smart, soulful and survivalist young women into an art form with such movies as Atonement, The Lovely Bones and Hanna. The part of Daisy was highly-coveted amongst the teen-thespian set.
Ronan is due to next star in The Host, an adaptation of the non-Twilight book by Stephenie Meyer. She would shoot Live Now after wrapping Host, which is due to film in February.
Ronan is repped by CAA.
