'Star Wars' Blu-Ray Release Teased by Conan O'Brien (Video)

On TBS’ "Conan," the late-night host released a not-so-real version of a lightsaber battle.

With the highly-anticipated and hotly discussed release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray just a day away, Conan O’Brien was getting in on the commentary.

The late-night host teased the release, which has come under fire from fans for some significant changes, including the addition of Darth Vader commentary during the scene in Return of the Jedi where he commits his final redemptive act by throwing Emperor Palpatine down a shaft.

Other changes include swapping out the puppet Yoda in The Phantom Menace for a CGI-created creature, having the Ewoks blink in Return of the Jedi and adding a shriek to Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope.

To tease the release, O’Brien premiered a satirical scene with sound effects that would shock even the most uninterested of Star Wars viewers.

“Here’s an example of a never-before-seen moment before they changed some of the sound effects for the movie’s release back in ’77,” O’Brien said in his introduction.

The scene shown is from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in which Obi-Wan confronts Darth Vader and they battle. Fans will notice some significant changes to the sound effects. Thank The Force that George Lucas didn’t go that far with his own changes.
