Trailer Report: Extended 'Godzilla,' 'Wish I Was Here' Teaser Top Week
Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy" and the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot continue to perform strongly in their second and third weeks.
Godzilla continues to roar loudly on the island of coming attractions.
The new "extended look" trailer for the reboot of the classic 1950s monster was the week's most viewed preview, according to Zefr, a technology company. It notched 5.7 million YouTube views in its debut week. Godzilla and his all-star cast (Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and many others) arrives in theaters May 16.
Zach Braff's Kickstarter-funded movie Wish I Was Here surprisingly grabbed second place with 4.8 million views. (If The Onion made an indie movie trailer, I imagine it would look like this.) The movie, starring Mandy Patinkin, Kate Hudson, Jim Parsons, Donald Faison and many others, opens July 25.
After a strong opening week, Lucy held third place with 3.8 million views. The Scarlett Johansson picture directed by Luc Besson has a two-week total of 17.01 million views. Look for it in theaters Aug. 8.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles held fourth place in its third week out, with 2.8 million views. TMNT now has an impressive lifetime total of 43.7 million views. It also opens on Aug. 8.
New trailers for Planes and 22 Jump street (a red band trailer) held the fifth and six spots, with 2.3 million and 2.1 million views respectively. Rounding out the top 10 were Guardians of the Galaxy, Hercules, Sex Tape and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
