Universal has optioned Chononauts, the time-traveling adventure comic book miniseries from Mark Millar and artist Sean Gordon Murphy.

The story centers on two scientific genius buddies who are on a time-traveling adventure. Things go wrong, and it's all televised.

Universal's director of development Jay Polidoro will oversee the project for the studio.

Morgan is the writer behind Universal's last five Fast and Furious movies and is one of the scribes building the studio's cinematic monster universe.

Millar was one of the big writers for Marvel Comics in this century's first decade (he wrote the Civil War miniseries, which informs the new Captain America movie). But the writer has also made a name for himself in the creator-owned space, especially when it comes to Hollywood adaptations.

Millar co-created Kick-Ass as well as Wanted ,  and in February saw his comic The Secret Service become the Fox hit Kingsman: The Secret Service. The Colin Firth-Taron Egerton movie grossed $278.6 million worldwide.

Millar is repped by Paradigm and Law Offices of Harris M. Miller II, P.C.
