'Left Behind': Nicolas Cage vs. the Apocalypse in First Trailer (Video)
Cage tries to save a plummeting plane in the end-of-days thriller based on the best-selling book series.
Saving planes from crash-landing is all in a day's work for Nicolas Cage's weary pilot in the first full Left Behind trailer.
In the apocalyptic thriller, Cage plays the amazingly named Rayford Steele, a pilot who discovers that he and his daughter (Cassi Thomson, Switched at Birth) are among a select group of survivors who are left on Earth after much of the population mysteriously vanishes.
In a pivotal scene, Rayford busts open a cockpit door mid-flight and grabs the controls of the plane after its pilots have headed off to the great big airport in the sky.
Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, Jordin Sparks and Quinton Aaron co-star. Vic Armstrong directed the film based on the best-selling, rapture-centric Left Behind novel series. The film is a reboot of the 2000 Kirk Cameron-starrer Left Behind: The Movie.
Freestyle Releasing releases the film Oct. 3.
