Warner Bros. Picks Up 'Lore' With Dwayne Johnson Attached to Star (Exclusive)
The screenplay from Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott is based on the book/graphic novel written by Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise.
Warner Bros. is in the process of picking up the adapted screenplay Lore, from writers Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott. Dwayne Johnson is attached to star in the sci-fi actioner, which has been described as "Men in Black with mythological creatures."
Mad Chance's Andrew Lazar (Jonah Hex, Bound) is producing along with Circle of Confusion's David Alpert and Rick Jacobs. Miri Yoon, Ted Adams and Ashley Wood are executive producers. Aperture Entertainment's Adam Goldworm is a co-producer.
The seven-figure progress-to-production deal went down in a high-activity bidding situation once Johnson became attached, with Paramount and Sony also in pursuit.
Warner Bros. also has closed the deal for the underlying rights to the source material, the IDW book/graphic novel written by Wood and T.P. Louise.
Repped by WME and manager Dany Garcia, Johnson has been on a roll recently with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which has grossed $314 million worldwide since February, and Fast Five, which grossed $626 million globally last year. The actor has G.I. Joe: Retaliation opening in June from Paramount, and he is filming Pain and Gain in Miami for director Michael Bay.
Goodman is repped by WME and Aperture Entertainment, while Lott is repped by Paradigm and Aperture. Goodman adapted the 2011 action-thriller Priest, and he has his Black List script The Last Witch Hunter set up at Lionsgate/Summit with Breck Eisner attached to direct and Haunted set up at ABC TV. Lott also wrote Man at Arms for Echo Lake Productions.
IDW is represented by CAA and Circle of Confusion. Wood is represented by CAA and attorney Darren Trattner.
