Now You Can Be Adam West -- Or Look Like Him, at Least
Christmas comes late for the Batfan with an Adam West fixation this year: A cowl created with complete fidelity to the original TV show costume can be yours for just $1,500.
Picture the scene: Your cosplay outfit based on the 1966 Adam West Batman TV show is almost complete. You have the tights, the boots, even the utility belt. All you're missing is the cowl, but try as hard as you might, every attempt you make just doesn't come together. How much would you give for just be able to buy the perfect cowl? Say … $1,500?
That's how much The Chuck Williams Studio is asking for its Replica 66' Batman Cowl on Etsy. Handmade from, according to the item's description, "the original fabric which has been custom dyed to match a color sample from the dye house used on the show," the cowl was built over a fiberglass shell modeled on a plaster cast from the original, and features painted eyebrows color-matched to the show's original. In other words, it's as close to the real thing as you could get, short of actually getting the real thing.
When it comes to Batplay, the studio doesn't just stop at the cowl; it's also offering a replica cape, Bat emblems for the chest, replica utility belt and, in a moment of weirdness, a replica bust of Adam West's head made out of rigid foam.
Between this and the $200,000 replica Batmobile, it's as if someone is trying to construct the ultimate shopping list for a Batman-obsessed millionaire. All we need now is for someone to make a replica Batcave and we have the entire set.
