Hong Kong rethinks streaming regulations

April 16, 2008 The Hong Kong government is proposing regulations to protect content-streaming technology, it said Tuesday. The proposal includes moves to introduce a voluntary code of practice for online service providers, to be used in court cases determining whether the OSPs are responsible of copyright infringement. The law, which also will address the difficulty of determining financial losses due to film piracy, is set to be expanded to help the courts award additional damages.
