Fortissimo taps Yeung, Phathanavirangoon leaves
May 01, 2008 Fortissimo Films on Thursday announced it has hired Esther Yeung as director of marketing and special projects in its Hong Kong office and promoted Ingrid Lim to director of distribution and Asian sales. In his new capacity at Toronto, Phathanavirangoon will select films from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, while fellow Toronto programmer Giovanna Fulvi will select festival titles from mainland China, Japan and South Korea. Phathanavirangoon's appointment follows the promotion of veteran Toronto programmer Cameron Bailey, who previously selected South Asian films, particularly from the Philippines and India, to a co-director position alongside Piers Handling.
