'10,000' tops in 30 territories
March 18, 2008 In the midst of a crowded international market gearing up for the Easter holidays, the prehistoric epic "10,000 BC" shot to the forefront with a weekend blast of $39.2 million from 6,850 screens in 51 markets, ranking No. 1 in 30 countries. In the U.K., where "10,000 BC" opened No. 1 to $3.9 million from 474 prints, the Roland Emmerich action-adventure was followed in order by the three-day preview of "Horton Hears a Who!" ($2.3 million from 482 screens), "Vantage Point" "The Game Plan" and "The Other Boleyn Girl." Minus the U.K. preview, the animated family adventure "Horton" showed its holiday potential with a $16.1 million weekend from 4,866 screens in 29 markets.
