HBO Asia to launch WarnerTV
Regional channel will feature Warner Bros content

HONG KONG -- Time-Warner unit HBO Asia is to launch WarnerTV, a new general entertainment channel made up of Warner Bros Entertainment content, across the Asia-Pacific region.
Set for operation in the first quarter of 2010 the channel's starting line up already includes hit series "The Mentalist," "The Big Bang Theory," "Fringe," from J.J. Abrams and "Gossip Girl." It will also give Asian premieres to Jerry Bruckheimer Television's "Dark Blue" and "Southland," from producer "ER" producer John Wells.
"As a basic service featuring the very best of hit television series, it is the perfect complement to our premium bouquet," said Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia, which will now license the channel to platforms and carriers around the region.
"The addition of this new WarnerTV channel in Asia is expected to bring our total number of branded services to more than 30 in over 60 countries around the world," said Malcolm Dudley-Smith, executive vice president–business management, Warner Bros. International Branded Services.
The group currently operates WB India, the Warner Channel in Latin America, and WarnerTV–branded on-demand zones in territories including the U.K., France, Germany, Japan and Italy.
