'Chak De India' takes top awards at IIFA

June 09, 2008 BANGKOK -- "Chak De India" was the bigger winner Sunday night at the ninth annual International India Film Academy Awards, claiming the best picture prize, along with directing honors for helmer Shimit Amin and a best actor nod for Shah Rukh Khan. "Chak De India" -- written by Jaideep Sahni, who won the award for best story -- is a fictional account of India's national women's field hockey team and its quest to become world champions. The IIFA awards take place in a new international venue each year in an effort to spread Bollywood's popularity around the world, and they are held in places with sizable Indian populations.
