Biopic's Cannes debut surprises subject
April 24, 2008 Sen. Giulio Andreotti, Italy's iconoclastic seven-time prime minister, hoped he'd be dead before a biopic of his life was released. Andreotti, the subject of Cannes' Competition title "Il Divo," claimed Thusday that director Paolo Sorrentino promised to wait until after his death to release the film. Sorrentino -- twice nominated for Cannes' Palme d'Or -- said Thursday there had been no agreement to release the film after Andreotti's death.
