'Little Children' panel

December 15, 2006 In awards season, when the trend is to fit films into neat little categories, director Todd Field's "Little Children" defies such cut-and-dry tactics. The film -- which New Line opened in limited realease in November -- has been quietly humming along on the strength of good reviews and strong audience buzz until it emerged as a contender in the Golden Globes race -- garnering nominations for best drama picture, screenplay and best actress for star Kate Winslet -- and was the top winner among the San Francisco Film Critics. Field and Winslet participated in a panel discussion for The Hollywood Reporter/Backstage Screening Series in November, moderated by THR's Paula Parisi.
