Tom Thumb heads to the big screen


October 07, 2008 The studio is developing "Thumb," a feature version of Tom Thumb, the diminutive folklore character who has had many entertainment incarnations over the years. The movie, which could be fast-tracked by the studio, is said to be a fresh take that will explore the character's origin story; the comedy-adventure is based on an original screenplay by "Saving Private Ryan" scribe Robert Rodat and will look at the heroism that a knight must summon after he is reduced to a pint size. The film will be produced by Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher via their Red Wagon banner, with Chris Chase executive producing.
