Vietnam Media Corp. and Singapore's Mega Media have joined forces to back Vietnamese filmmaker Nguyen Phan Quang Binh's "The Immense Floating Life," with Mega Media committing to 20% of the projects yet-to-be-finalized budget.

Vietnam Studio and Mega Media's collaboration reunites the pair, who worked together on "Song of the Stork," co-directed by Quang Binh and Mega Media managing director Jonathan Foo.

"I am extremely excited to be working with Binh once again after seven years," Foo said. "I believe that 'The Immense Floating Life' will change both the way we look at Vietnamese film, as well as the way we look at ourselves.

Foo will serve as exec producer together with Vietnam Media's Ngo Thi Bich Hanh.

"The Immense Floating Life" is based on Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tu's best-selling short story Boundless Rice Field.

It is billed as a classic and yet contemporary tale of the way the wounds of the past can twist the lives of families and children, and the surprising way love can lead to unexpected redemption.

The project is set to start shooting in this month in Vietnam and slated for release in 2010.

International Sales is repped by Vietnam Media Corp. here at the AFM.
