Monaghan in 'Pet' project

By Gregg Goldstein and Carly Mayberry

Feb 7, 2008, ET

Dominic Monaghan has landed the lead role in Edna McCallion's psychological thriller "Pet" for MGM.

Monaghan will play Seth, a man who bumps into his old high school crush and quickly becomes obsessed with her. He takes her captive underneath the animal shelter where he works but soon suspects that his old flame is not who she seems to be.

Monaghan appeared on last week's Season 4 premiere of ABC's "Lost" and will star with Ron Perlman in Glenn McQuaid's period zombie flick "I Sell the Dead" for Glass Eye Pix.

"Pet," set to begin shooting in the next few months, is produced by Aaron Kaplan, Sean Perrone, Steven Schneider and Dan Katzman. MGM's Jason Weiss and Alex Ankeles will oversee production for the studio.

Monaghan ("Lord of the Rings") is repped by APA and attorney Kevin Yorn at Barnes, Morris, Klein, Mark, Yorn, Barnes & Levine.

Gregg Goldstein reported from New York; Carly Mayberry reported from Los Angeles.
