McQuarrie in first-look deal at UAFeb 7, 2008, ET
"Valkyrie" producer/co-writer Christopher McQuarrie has signed a
first-look deal with United Artists.
Under the terms of the nonexclusive agreement, the Oscar-winning scribe will write, direct and produce projects for the studio. Several projects are under discussion. McQuarrie, who has divided his efforts between rewriting scripts and collaborating with other writers on his own material, is now producing "Valkyrie." He also is set to direct "The Stanford Prison Experiment," which he co-wrote. "After such an extraordinary experience working with Tom Cruise, Paula Wagner and (president of production) Don Granger on 'Valkyrie,' United Artists was the logical place to call home," McQuarrie said. "I am honored to be included in the UA family." "Valkyrie" has McQuarrie once again collaborating with the film's director, Bryan Singer. He worked with Singer on several films including "Public Access," a winner of the Sundance Film Festival's grand jury prize, and 1995's "The Usual Suspects," for which McQuarrie received an Oscar and Independent Spirit Award. McQuarrie more recently wrote and directed "The Way of the Gun" starring Benicio Del Toro and Ryan Phillippe. "We're excited to have Chris in the UA family," UA CEO Wagner said.
