ShoWest Visionary for Redford

March 04, 2008 Redford, who has supported the independent film movement through the Sundance Film Festival and the Sundance Channel, entered the exhibition arena in 2006 with Sundance Cinemas, which operates theaters in Madison, Wis., and San Francisco. Sundance Cinemas CEO Paul Richardson will present the award to Redford at the event, which will focus on specialty and independent films and distribution companies. "A supporter of uncompromised creative expression and a proponent of bringing independent and specialty fare to theaters and television audiences, Robert Redford has in his own way helped expose the moviegoing public to numerous unknown filmmakers and actors," ShoWest co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said.
