Helena Bonham Carter, Jennifer Ehle, Guy Pearce, Derek Jacobi, Timothy Spall and Michael Gambon have become loyal subjects of director Tom Hooper's "The King's Speech."

Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush star in the period drama written by David Seidler, which recently began shooting in England.

The film is based on the relationship between King George VI and speech therapist Lionel Logue, who helped the royal lose his stammer and embrace leadership.

Iain Canning and Emile Sherman of See-Saw Films and Gareth Unwin of Bedlam Prods. are producing. Bedlam's Simon Egan is a co-producer.

The Weinstein Co. will distribute the film in North America.

The ICM-repped Hooper most recently directed Sony's "The Damned United." He also directed the HBO productions "John Adams," "Elizabeth I" and "Longford."
