Whitley Strieber, best-selling author of "The Hunger" and "Communion: A True Story," has signed with the Gersh Agency.

His next book, "Omega Point," about how peoplewould react to an announcement of the end of the world, will be published in June by Tor/Forge.

Strieber's books often have become source material for features. Early novels "The Wolfen" and "Hunger" were made into movies, and "The Coming Global Superstorm," which he co-authored with Art Bell, served to inform "The Day After Tomorrow."

"Communion," which Strieber adapted, became a 1989 movie that starred Christopher Walken as the author.

Strieber's "The Grays" recently was optioned by Sony, with Ken Nolan ("Black Hawk Down") writing the adaptation and Wolfgang Petersen attached to direct. His book "2012: The War for Souls" was picked up by Warner Bros. for Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to produce.

A remake of "Hunger" is in development at Warner Bros.

Strieber, who has 85 million books in print, also is the author of "Transformation," "Breakthrough," "The Secret School," "Warday," "Catmagic" and "Nature's End," among others.

He continues to be managed by Seven Summits Pictures & Management.
