SEOUL – "The Actresses," a new mockumentary by the director E J Yong ("Untold Scandal") was invited to participate in the Panorama section of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival.

"The Actresses" has drawn attention as a mockumentary in which six top Korean actresses appear with no guaranteed payment. The story delves into the world of celebrity through actresses from different generations, who are gathered on Christmas Eve for a fashion photo shoot.

The cast includes Kim Ok-bin ("Thirst") and Ko Hyun-jung ("Woman on the Beach"), who were asked to play themselves, and no further instructions were given other than what was given in the script. E, the director, described the film as "a collaborative screenplay," giving credit to the effort of each actress in developing their roles.

In the film, each actress shares a glimpse of their characters and life offscreen, including divorce. The director E explained that although the film illustrates the personality of each actress it's not certain as to whether they actually spoke the truth.

The film will be handled by Moongkeul Pictures and distributed by Showbox. "Actresses" opens locally on Dec. 10.
