Fox buys 'Beaujolais' spec

By Borys Kit

April 15, 2008, ET

20th Century Fox has sniffed out "Beaujolais," a spec comedy by Mike Arnold and Chris Poole. Peter and Bobby Farrelly are on board as producers.

Plot details are being kept corked, but the name describes a treasure-hunting character in the vein of Austin Powers and Ace Ventura. The studio sees the project as a franchise starter.

No director is attached.

John Fox oversees for Fox.

The Farrellys, whose most recent movie was the Ben Stiller comedy "The Heartbreak Kid," last acted as producers on 2005's "The Ringer."

Arnold and Poole wrote specs "The Grackle," set up at New Line, and "Captain Awesome," housed at Fox Atomic. They are repped by CAA and Principato/Young.
