IFP hands out filmmaker grants
September 21, 2007 Indie film organization IFP distributed more than $100,000 to emerging filmmakers at its annual awards luncheon Thursday afternoon. At the Chinatown Brasserie ceremony hosted by actress Melonie Diaz ("Raising Victor Vargas") and sponsored by the Hollywood Reporter, directors from IFP's Independent Film Lab and artists in Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film" were also introdiced to the industry-filled crowd. The award, given to a female director award in honor of the slain actress/helmer, was chosen by a jury that included Hal Hartley, Bennett Miller, Paul Rudd, Keri Russell and Andy Ostroy.
