By Tatiana Siegel

May 4, 2007, ET

Morris Chestnut has signed on to star in Screen Gems' faith-themed drama "Not Easily Broken."

Bill Duke will helm the film, which is based on a book by T.D. Jakes ("Woman Thou Art Loosed"). Brian Bird penned the adaptation, which revolves around a couple whose strength and faith are tested after the wife is injured in a car crash and the husband becomes attracted to another woman.

Jakes and Curtis Wallace are producing. Chestnut is executive producing.

Nick Phillips is overseeing for Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper.

Shooting is scheduled to begin June 11 in Los Angeles.

Chestnut, whose film credits include "Ladder 49" and "Like Mike," will next be seen in Walt Disney Pictures' "The Game" opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kyra Sedgwick. He also recently wrapped "A Perfect Christmas" opposite Queen Latifah and Terrence Howard.

Chestnut is repped by CAA and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Entertainment.

Duke recently wrapped directing the Vivica Fox-Louis Gossett Jr. starrer "Cover." The AIDS-related drama will be released in the fall by 20th Century Fox.

He is repped at APA, Rigberg Entertainment and attorney Bill Abrams.
