David Silverman, who most recently helmed "The Simpsons Movie," has
signed on to develop and direct "The Pet," a live-action sci-fi
family comedy for Disney. Scott Rudin and Craig Perry are
producing.
The project, written by Matt Lieberman, centers on an everyday guy who becomes the pet of a group of aliens. Sheila Hanahan Taylor and Mark Roybal are exec producing. Brigham Taylor and Casey Wolfe are overseeing for Disney. Silverman, a longtime director-producer of Fox's "The Simpsons," directed DreamWorks' "El Dorado" in 2000 and co-directed Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." in 2001. Silverman is repped by Endeavor and Greenlit. Borys Kit reported from Los Angeles; Gregg Goldstein reported from New York.
