LONDON -- Woody Harrelson and Samantha Morton have joined the cast of Oren Moverman's directorial debut, "The Messenger."

Co-penned by Moverman and first-time scriptwriter Alessandro Camon, "The Messenger" is set to start shooting May 20 and is billed as a poignant, life-affirming road movie. Previously announced castings include Ben Foster, Jena Malone and Eamonn Walker.

Mark Gordon and Lawrence Inglee will produce for the Mark Gordon Co., along with Zach Miller of Reason Pictures.

Australia and New Zealand-based Omnilab (Media Group) and Bahrain-based Sherezade Films Development are bankrolling the film, and ContentFilm International is repping it at the upcoming Marche du Film in Cannes.

Shaun Reddick and Nate Bolotin of the Collective teamed with the Mark Gordon Co. and Reason Pictures to help package the movie and negotiate the financing. The Collective will serve as executive producer.

Foster is repped by Endeavor and Ken Jacobson Management Group. Moverman, who co-wrote the unorthodox Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There," is represented by WMA and New York Office.
