Minka Kelly has joined Leighton Meester to topline Screen Gems' thriller "The Roommate," being directed by Christian E. Christiansen.

Aly Michalka and Matt Lanter also have joined the cast, which includes Cam Gigandet.

"Roommate" is a psychological thriller about a deranged college freshman, Rebecca (Meester), who becomes dangerously obsessed with her new roommate, Sara (Kelly).

Michalka ("Phil of the Future") will play an outgoing dormmate determined to give Sara a social life. Lanter ("90210") will play Sara's ex-boyfriend. Gigandet will play her current boyfriend.

Roy Lee and Doug Davison's Vertigo Entertainment is producing. Sonny Mallhi, a Vertigo executive vp, wrote the script and also is an exec producer.

Lanter, repped by Endeavor and Emerald Talent Group, is the voice of Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and next appears in Summit's horror movie "Sorority Row."

Michalka next toplines Summit and Walden's rock-oriented summer release "Bandslam." She and sister AJ are releasing a CD for Hollywood Records this year.

Michalka is repped by CAA, Lynda Goodfriend Artists Management and Strategic Artist Management.

Kelly ("Friday Night Lights") recently wrapped "Body Politic," a pilot for the CW, and next appears in Fox Searchlight's romantic comedy "(500) Days of Summer." She is repped by CAA and Management 360.
