NEW YORK -- World Wrestling Entertainment superstar John Cena has
become the first celebrity to join the Make-A-Wish Foundation's
Wish Ambassador Council, led by basketball legend and chief wish
ambassador Michael Jordan.
The news Monday came a day after WWE's "WrestleMania 25" at Reliant Stadium in Houston grossed $6.9 million -- making it the company's highest-grossing live event in WWE history. Cena is one of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's most requested wish granters. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has increased its number of wishes granted each year since 1985, reaching 13,425 in 2008 -- a record for its 28-year history. It estimates that 27,000 U.S. children are diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions each year. "WrestleMania XXVI" will take place in the Make-A-Wish Foundation's back yard at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday, March 28.
