By Borys Kit

Feb 9, 2008, ET

Complete Berlinale coverage

BERLIN -- Children's book "The Great Ghost Rescue" is on its way to the big screen. Yann Samuell will direct from a screenplay by David Solomons. Miriam Segal and Martin Katz of Good Films will produce.

Odd Lot Entertainment has the international distribution rights.

Based on the popular children's book by New York Times best seller Eva Ibboston, the story is set in the world where ghosts are the protagonists and the living are the people they fear. "Rescue" centers on a small ghost whose family loses its home and has to find a new haunting ground while evading exorcists.

Odd Lot, currently in post on the Frank Miller feature "The Spirit," intends to adapt the book as a live action feature in the tone of "Ghostbusters" and "The Addams Family."

Solomons ("Five Children and It") is repped by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.

French director Samuell helmed 2003's "Jeux d'enfants," which starred Marion Cotillard, and is making his English-language debut with "My Sassy Girl." He is repped by CAA and attorney is Robert Offer.
