Sarah Polley was initially attached to star in writer-director Jamie Thraves' adaptation of the 1962 novel by Patricia Highsmith ("The Talented Mr. Ripley") for producers BBC Films and Myriad Pictures' Kirk D'Amico, but she dropped out because of a scheduling conflict. Considine will play the man who moves to Stiles' suburban town and begins spying on her. Speedman will play her jilted ex, who complicates matters further when he plots revenge against her. Principal photography is set to begin Oct. 30 in Toronto. Highsmith's book was previously adapted in a 1987 French-language film by director Claude Chabrol. Stiles will be seen in "Gospel Hill" and is set to co-produce and star in the Sylvia Plath adaptation "The Bell Jar" for Plum Pictures in association with Killer Films. She also wrote, directed and starred in the short "Raving," which premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. NEW YORK -- Julia Stiles will star opposite Paddy Considine and Scott Speedman in the thriller "Cry of the Owl," playing a woman who falls in love with her stalker.
