Columbia sprinkles 'Salt' on slate


January 12, 2007 Columbia Pictures has acquired Kurt Wimmer's spy-thriller spec "Edwin A. Salt." The fictional film centers on Edwin A. Salt, a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. Wimmer, whose writing credits include "Ultraviolet," "The Recruit" and "The Thomas Crown Affair," has several screenplays in development including a remake of "Westworld" at Warner Bros.
