Summit loves Alan Yang.
The minimajor has bought a pitch from the scribe that's titled "We Love You," a bromantic comedy with echoes of "I Love You, Man." The story revolves around two close friends who discover they're dating the same woman and the comedic and relationship consequences that ensue when they try to disentangle the situation. Jon Shestack is in negotiations to produce via his eponymous banner. Yang, repped by WME, counts "South Park" and "Parks and Recreation" among his credits; he also sold the interracial adoption comedy "White Dad" to Sony and has done a rewrite of the David Dobkin project "Boss Go Home" at Warners. Shestack is the producer behind such films as "Air Force One" and "Dan in Real Life" who is producing "Boss Go Home" and the corporate comedy "Cover Your Assets" at Lionsgate, among others. "Man" earned $71 million domestically and has, along with a series of movies from Judd Apatow and his proteges, helped drive the vogue for comedies centering on male friendships. The two-year-old Summit has been diversifying as it grows its slate. As the company preps the release of "New Moon," it's set to release animated adventure "Astro Boy," has recently wrapped the relationship take "Remember Me" and has boarded the offbeat Mel Gibson dramedy "The Beaver."
