Batmania hit the video sales charts for the week ending July 13 as consumers anticipated the new Batman film, "The Dark Knight," hitting theaters Friday.

Two titles with plots linked to the new theatrical installment -- Warner Home Video's animated direct-to-video title, "Batman: Gotham Knight," and the most recent theatrical installment in the franchise, "Batman Begins" -- took the top two spots on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week.

The two Batman titles also topped the Blu-ray Disc chart for the week, but in reverse order. "Batman Begins" took the top spot, and "Gotham Knight" came in at No. 2 in the high-definition arena.

"Vantage Point," last week's top seller and renter, with a boxoffice gross of $72.3 million, repeated as the week's No. 1 rental, according to Home Media Magazine. It came in at No. 3 on the sales chart, behind the Batman titles. Last week's No. 2 rental, "Drillbit Taylor," retained the same spot for a second week on Home Media Magazine's rental chart.

Newcomers "The Ruins," from Paramount and DreamWorks, and "Stop-Loss," also from Paramount, took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively, on the rental chart. They finished at No. 4 and No. 9, respectively, on the sales chart. "Ruins" pulled in $17.4 million at the boxoffice, and "Stop-Loss" made $10.9 million theatrically.
