Universal has 'Family Bond'

Adventure spec from scribe Jeff Lowell

By Borys Kit and Jay Fernandez

Universal has picked up "The Family Bond," an adventure spec by Jeff Lowell. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce via the Marc Platt Prods. banner along with Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who produce through their Millar/Gough Ink banner.

The story centers on a girl who goes on an adventure to rescue her mother with the father she never knew she had, a Bond-like spy.

The family movie seems like a 180-degree turn from Platt's latest project, the stylish and R-rated action movie "Wanted," starring Angelina Jolie, though he did dip his toe into family-film waters with the Hilary Duff movie "The Perfect Man." Siegel is an executive producer on "Wanted."

Lowell is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Donna Langley and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum oversee for Universal, with Siegel shepherding for Marc Platt Prods.
