Justin Bartha a slam dunk for 'Rebound'

By Steven Zeitchik

April 11, 2008, ET

NEW YORK -- Justin Bartha will star opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones in Bart Freundlich's romantic comedy for Mark Gill's the Film Department.

The project has also been given a name; the movie about the relationship between a younger man and older woman will be titled "The Rebound."

"Rebound" centers on a 25-year-old man (Bartha) who starts an unlikely romance with his single-mother neighbor (Zeta-Jones). It will begin shooting this month in New York.

Bartha starred opposite Nicolas Cage in both "National Treasure" movies, in which he played tech expert Riley Pool. He also was in a previous Freundlich movie, "Trust the Man," in a smaller role, as well as the Matthew McConaughey romantic comedy "Failure to Launch."

Freundlich created a stir at the Toronto International Film Festival several years ago with the relationship dramedy "Trust the Man," which Searchlight won in a bidding war but which earned only $1.5 million at the boxoffice.

"Rebound" marks one of the first projects for the nascent Film Department, which also is behind the World War II drama "Brothers in Arms" and the legal thriller "Law Abiding Citizen."
