Lucas Cruikshank and Jaime King are attached to star in "Emo Boy" for Vanguard Films. The live-action adaptation of the graphic novels created by Stephen Emond and published by SLG Comics will revolve around the travails of the melodramatic title hero, a high schooler who believes he has "emo powers." (For the uninitiated, emo refers to exceptionally sensitive young people.) Emond wrote the screenplay, and Kyle Newman is attached to direct. Vanguard's John H. Williams and Robert Moreland are producing. Cruikshank will play Emo Boy, and King will play Mrs. Hutcherson, a teacher and "emo sympathizer." A panel about the property is set for Saturday at Comic-Con. Cruikshank, repped by UTA and the Collective, is the creator and star of the YouTube series "Fred." He also has appeared on "iCarly" and "Hannah Montana." King, repped by Gersh and Raw Talent, recently starred in "My Bloody Valentine 3-D" and "The Spirit." She next appears in James Keach's "Waiting for Forever." Emond's young-adult novel "Happyface" will be published in March by Little, Brown & Co. The UTA-repped Newman directed "Fanboys." Jay A.
