Columbus Short has been recruited for the betrayed Special Forces team of "The Losers."

The "Stomp the Yard" actor will join Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana in the action film about a rogue black ops team on the hunt for revenge. Sylvain White, Short's director on "Yard," is writing and directing.

Short will play Pooch, a smart-ass gunner who refers to himself in the third person and sports a tattoo of his infant daughter.

Warner Bros. will release the Dark Castle adaptation of the Vertigo/DC Comics graphic novel. Joel Silver is producing along with Akiva Goldsman, his Weed Road partner Kerry Foster and Film 44's Sarah Aubrey.

Short, repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, also appeared in "Cadillac Records" and "Quarantine." He stars in the Screen Gems heist film "Armored," which hits theaters in September, and is filming the Screen Gems comedy "Death at a Funeral."
