20-plus projects on Studio 37 plateFilm subsidiary of French teleco OrangeMay 16, 2008, 12:47 PM ET
CANNES -- One year after its launch, French teleco Orange's film
subsidiary Studio 37 has burst onto the market with well over 20
projects in various stages of production, plus preferential
international sales, video and distribution deals.
Headed by Frederique Dumas, Studio 37 has inked partnerships with Mars Distribution for theatrical release in Gaul and former Europacorp sales agent Gregoire Melin's recently launched Kinology to handle the group's international sales. "We're really going to reinforce our privileged partnerships in the next few months," Dumas said, adding that the deals are not exclusive. Studio 37's lineup includes co-productions with many of the major Gallic studios including Pathe, Europacorp, UGC and Gaumont. Studio 37 will co-produce Antoine Charreyron's "Prodigies" with Fidelite and Onyx Films, a motion-capture thriller set in New York looking at a 2010 release in Gaul through Mars with Kinology handling international sales. Other high-profile projects with Studio 37 backing include Mandarin Cinema's "The Possibility of an Island" directed by Michel Houellebecq who adapted from his own novel, David Charhon's Catherine Deneuve starrer "Cyprien," Antoine de Caunes' "Coluche," Mathieu Kassovitz' "Red Alien" and Xavier Giannoli's Gerard Depardieu starrer "Je suis parti de rien." Studio 37 will focus on French fare, but the slate also includes the English-language "Shoe at Your Foot" by Jennifer Devoldere starring Melanie Laurent. 20-plus projects on Studio 37 plateFilm subsidiary of French teleco OrangeMay 16, 2008, 12:47 PM ET
