CDI close to Platinum, Radical deal

July 23, 2008 Film and TV producer-distributor Compact Disc India is "close" to a deal to develop animated features based on the characters and titles of comics publishers Platinum Studios and Radical Comics, the company said Wednesday. Los Angeles-based Platinum owns more than 3,800 characters and comic book properties including "Cowboys and Aliens," which is being turned into a potential 2010 live-action feature co-produced by DreamWorks and Universal, with Robert Downey Jr. in negotiations for the lead. CDI would handle animation production for the two proposed features at its facilities with "creative input from Platinum and Radical," Kumar said.
