Boxoffice tracker goes Hollywood

Media by Numbers acquired by entertainment Web site

By Carl DiOrio

Hollywood.com has acquired Paul Dergarabedian's 2-year-old boxoffice-analysis service Media by Numbers.

Terms included an unspecified cash payment and a professional contract for Dergarabedian.

A former longtime exec at similar boxoffice service Exhibitor Relations, Dergarabedian broke away in 2006 to form his own outfit. The move triggered a lawsuit by current Exhibitor Relations owner Robert Bucksbaum, which was settled out of court.

Media by Numbers and Exhibitor Relations have media outlets as their primary clients.

"The acquisition of Media by Numbers creates a powerful partnership that is unique to the entertainment industry," Hollywood.com CEO Mitchell Rubenstein said.

Dergarabedian touted the deal as forming "an extremely powerful combination that will allow us to realize our full potential and better showcase our services."

Hollywood.com is a consumer-oriented entertainment Web site based in Los Angeles.
