By Gregg Goldstein

Oct 10, 2007, ET

NEW YORK -- Kelly Bowe is on board to adapt Jill Smolinski's sophomore novel "The Next Thing on My List" for Wendy Finerman Prods. and New Line.

The book follows June Parker, a 34-year-old woman whose life changes forever when her new acquaintance from a Weight Watchers meeting dies next to her in a car crash. After finding a list of 20 things her passenger wanted to do before she turned 25, from running a marathon to kissing a stranger, the guilt-ridden June finds new adventures while living out the wishes.

Bowe's writing credits include "Before You Go" and "Parental Guidance."

Finerman recently found chick-lit success producing the adaptation of Aline Brosh McKenna's novel "The Devil Wears Prada." Other female-centric films on her resume include "Stepmom" and the upcoming "P.S., I Love You." Smolinski's previous novel was the Hawaii-based romance "Flip-Flopped."

New Line's Kathy Busby and Merideth Finn are overseeing the project for the studio. Bowe is repped by CAA and attorney Marcy Morris.
