Electronic Arts' subsidiary Pandemic Studios is partnering with New Line Cinema on a new "Lord of the Rings" video game to be released this fall.

"LOTR: Conquest" is first-person shooter game that will provide fans the chance to play as Frodo and other heroes or as the legions of Sauron's evil army in the battle for Middle-earth.

A Pandemic spokesman said that in addition to its licensing role, New Line is providing 3-D models and other movie assets for use in the game being developed for multiple platforms, including the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, PC and Nintendo DS portable system.

"We are thrilled to be working with Pandemic Studios on this game," noted David Imhoff, Senior Executive VP for New Line Worldwide Licensing & Merchandising. "They bring not only their incredible technical and creative abilities but also a great passion for The Lord of the Rings."
