GreeneStreet, Katz book 'Adverbs'

GreeneStreet Films and producer Ross Katz have teamed to produce a feature film version of Daniel Handler's romantic novel "Adverbs."

Handler ("Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events") will adapt the book, which chronicles a daisy chain of gay and straight relationships. In the summary, Handler calls it "a novel about love -- a bunch of different people, in and out of different kinds of love."

"It's a wonderful novel with interesting characters and interwoven story lines, which I found impossible to put down," GreeneStreet partner and president John Penotti said. "Daniel is a huge talent, and I've been a fan of his for quite some time. And the opportunity to work with Ross again (after 'In the Bedroom') was icing on the cake."

Katz's credits include "In the Bedroom," "Lost in Translation" and "Marie Antoinette." GreeneStreet's upcoming projects include "Tenderness," "Bill" and "Gary the Tennis Coach."

Vicki Cherkas, head of business affairs, business development and new ventures at GreeneStreet, negotiated the deal, with ICM repping Handler.
