Report: Viewers want Web with DVD
April 18, 2008 Customers want Web-enabled features on their next DVD player, according to a new study that vindicates studio efforts to deliver interactive, customized media experiences to the home living room. The consumer interest in a series of Internet-enabled features is likely to be included in next-generation DVD players, the report by the Diffusion Group said. "Adding Internet support and a few compelling Web-enabled features into a mainstream living room platform like the DVD player will increase the uptake of media networking in general and particularly, TV-based Web video consumption," TDG president and report author Michael Greeson said.
