Bacharach slated for Grammy life nod


December 19, 2007 Songwriting legend Burt Bacharach, the late jazz vocalist Cab Calloway and Rock Hall of Famers the Band are among the acts announced Tuesday to receive the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 50th annual Grammy Awards. Swing vocalist Doris Day, Israeli violinist Itzhak Perlman, jazz drummer Max Roach and bluegrass innovator Earl Scruggs round out the list. The honors, given for "lifelong artistic contributions to the recording medium" will be doled out at a private event on Feb. 9 and publicly the next day during the televised ceremony at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
