LONDON -- Shanghai-based China West Entertainment, which has promoted shows by Norah Jones, James Blunt and Kanye West in China, has suspended operations.

After a lengthy career as a promoter in the U.S, Steve Sybesma launched China West Entertainment in 2004 as a concert business centered on Western acts.

Other artists who worked with China West on shows in Mainland China included James Brown, Black Eyed Peas, Ziggy Marley and the Roots. The company was also involved in projects including "Titanic -- The Priceless Artifact Exhibition" and the halftime presentation of "Slam Nation" at China's first NBA Basketball game in Shanghai.

China West also served as an entertainment coordinator for the 2007 Special Olympics opening ceremony, and was also involved in the recent Kylie Minogue Shanghai concert.

"My experience with China West and in China has not only been rich and rewarding, but also another unforgettable and exciting chapter of my life," China West CEO Steve Sybesma said. "Most of all, I have enjoyed living and working in Shanghai during the past five years, and being able to witness the amazing transformation of one of the world's major cities. I truly regret suspending operations, but thank all of those who supported our efforts."
