"Bruno" is getting a summer season release date. Universal will
unspool Sacha Baron Cohen's next comedy spoof May 15.
Like the title character in "Borat," "Bruno" is based on a skit character -- this time a faux fashionista -- from Cohen's one-time HBO series, "Da Ali G Show." So far, Sony's Tom Hanks starrer "Angels & Demons" represents the only competition for "Bruno" in its release slot. The Uni move follows a better-than-expected bow of $26.5 million for "Borat," which Fox opened in November 2006. "Borat" grossed $128.5 million overall domestically.
