Fox ready to enter 'Rehab'Peter Chernin, Will Gluck to produce Laybourne comedyOct 18, 2009, 11:00 PM ET
Fox has picked up "Rehab," a comedy spec from Sam Laybourne to be
produced by Peter Chernin with Will Gluck, who is eyeing the
project as a directing vehicle.
The story centers on a man who fakes going to rehab to reconnect with a former high school sweetheart, now a rock star and in rehab for her excesses. Debbie Liebling is overseeing. Laybourne is a TV writer-producer working on ABC's "Cougar Town." His previous credits include "Arrested Development" and "Aliens in America," though it was writing on "The Loop" that he developed a close relationship with Gluck, the show's co-creator. Gluck, in postproduction on his Screen Gems comedy "Easy A," starring Emma Stone, Thomas Haden Church and Patricia Clarkson, worked to develop the script with Laybourne and took it to Chernin's Fox-based shingle. Chernin has been active since segueing from being one of the town's top execs to producer. Among his feature projects -- he also has several television projects -- are adaptations of mystery novel "The Deep Blue Goodbye" with Appian Way and the Greg Rucka-written spy comic book "Queen and Country" that Jenno Topping also is producing. Laybourne is repped by UTA; Gluck is repped by ICM. Fox ready to enter 'Rehab'Peter Chernin, Will Gluck to produce Laybourne comedyOct 18, 2009, 11:00 PM ET
